[New Pokémon Game in 2010]

The official Japanese Pokémon website announced today that a new Pokemon series is under development (maybe the 5th generation) and will be released in late 2010. Below is the official announcement and the translation. The site had said that it will be an RPG and the press release hinted that new Pokémon were in it.

株式会社ポケモン（東京都港区、代表取締役社長：石原恒和）は、すべてのポケモンコンテンツの原作である、RPG『ポケットモンスター』シリーズ（開発：株式会社ゲームフリーク　販売：任天堂株式会社）の最新作をニンテンドーDS向けに、2010年内発売に向けて開発中であることをお知らせいたします。
Pokemon Co., Ltd. (Minato, Tokyo, President: Tsunekazu Ishihara) has announced an all new and original Pocket Monsters RPG series (Developer: Game Freak - Publisher: Nintendo) for the Nintendo DS which will be released later in 2010.

『ポケットモンスター』シリーズは、1996年の第1作『ポケットモンスター赤・緑』以来、ポケモンならではの世界観や、違うバージョン間との通信による「交換」や「対戦」などの遊びによって、世界中のお客様から高い評価をいただいており、全世界でのシリーズ累計販売本数は、1億3,000万本以上にものぼります。
Since "Pocket Monsters" release in 1996 with "Pocket Monsters Red and Green", Pokémon garnered worldwide success and praise by having unique gameplay by allowing communication between different versions of the games to "trade" or "compete" against other players, as worldwide sales for the series has reached over 130,000,000 copies sold.

ニンテンドーDS向けの『ポケットモンスター』シリーズは、２画面、タッチスクリーン、Wi-Fi通信などのDSの機能を活かした遊びを組み込んできました。開発中の最新作では全世界で1,715万本以上（国内580万本以上）の販売本数を誇る『ポケットモンスター ダイヤモンド・パール』から４年ぶりの完全新作として、これまで以上の新しい遊びと新しいポケモンを加え、すべてにおいて革新的に生まれ変わる予定です。
The "Pocket Monsters" series utilities the built-in features of the Nintendo DS' 2 screens, the touch screen and the Wi-Fi capabilities in game. The latest games that are under development are completely new and come after sales of 17,150,000 copies (over 5,800,000 in Japan) in the last four years for the previous games "Pocket Monsters Diamond and Pearl", and the new games will be innovative and a fresh start to the series by adding new gameplay elements and Pokémon.

Just to let everyone know not to use internet explorer and to switch to an alternative browser because there are security holes that cause the google hacks recently, here is the news post below and the links to alternative browsers:

The German government has warned web users to find an alternative browser to Internet Explorer to protect security.

The warning from the Federal Office for Information Security comes after Microsoft admitted IE was the weak link in recent attacks on Google's systems.

Microsoft say the security hole can be shut by setting the browser's security zone to "high", although this limits functionality and blocks many websites.

However, German authorities say that even this would not make IE fully safe.

Speaking to BBC News, Graham Cluley of anti-virus firm Sophos said the warning applied to versions 6, 7 and 8 of the browser.

"This is a vulnerability that was announced in the last couple of days. Microsoft have no patch yet and the implication is that this is the same one that exploited on the attacks on Google earlier this week," he said.

"The way to exploit this flaw has now appeared on the internet , so it is quite possible that everyone is now going to have a go."

Microsoft traditionally release a security update once a month - the next scheduled patch is the 9th of February. However, a spokesman for Microsoft told BBC News said developers for the firm were trying to fix the problem.

"We are working on an update on this issue and this may well be involve an out of cycle security update," he said.

Fix development

However, this is no easy task. Not only have the firm got to fix the loophole, but they have to ensure it does not create another one and - equally importantly - works on all computers. A task compounded by the fact they have to fix three different versions of its browser.

Microsoft said that while all versions of Internet Explorer were affected, the risk was lower with more recent releases of its browser.

The other problem facing developers is that the possible risk might not be prevented by anti-virus software, even when recently updated.

"We've been working to analyse the malware that the Chinese are using. But new versions can always be created," said Mr Cluley

"We've been working with Microsoft to see if the damage can be mitigated and we are hoping that they will release an emergency patch.

"One thing that should be stressed is that every browser has its security issues, so switching may remove this current risk but could expose you to another."

Just a couple of days ago Pokémon USA rereleased Pokemon.com with a new design. Pokémon.com is still in Adobe Flash and is still under construction. Here is the press release below:

The newest Pokémon TCG set (Pokémon Heart Gold & Soul Silver) was announced on tuesday. The expansion is the English version of the HeartGold & SoulSilver set that was released last year in Japan on October 9th. Here below is the press release from the offical site:
